Episode Zero – Welcome to Trackside Tea

Episode Zero – “Welcome to Trackside Tea”

Welcome to Trackside Tea, the F1 podcast for fans who love the thrill of the race without needing a degree in aerodynamics. Whether you cheer for one driver, five teams, or just the best race suits — you’re in the right paddock.

In this debut episode, meet me, your host Rebecca and discover what Trackside Tea is all about and why it started.

We’re not here to dissect downforce or decode FIA regulations — we’re here for the fun, the chaos, and the sheer love of F1. From big wins to big DNFs, we’ll break it down, laugh it off, and serve it up hot — no telemetry required.

What you can expect in future episodes…

• Race recaps in simple chatter

• Podium predictions (occasionally very wild ones!)

• A place where all fans are welcome

Hit follow, grab a cuppa, and buckle up. This is Trackside Tea.

Transcript:

Hey. Hey. And welcome to episode 1.

Oh, actually, it's not the episode 1. It's actually episode zero.

So hey. Hey. And welcome to episode zero of Trackside Tea, the podcast for formula one fans who love the sport, the chaos, the characters, and the drama, but who may not speak fluent telemetry. And, honestly, that's totally fine here.

I'm Rebecca, and I've been a fan of F1 for quite a while now.

I used to watch it with my parents when I was younger, and now I'm well and truly back into it. Not because I know everything about pit strategies or aerodynamics, but because I love the feeling of watching a race weekend. The build up, the unexpected plot twists, the wild crashes, the emotional wins, and, yes, sometimes just the pure entertainment of the whole circus that is Formula one.

I started Trackside Tea because I wanted to create a space where it's okay to not know every rule or remember the name of every race engineer. If you've ever felt a bit intimidated by F1 podcasts or online fan spaces that get super serious or hyper technical, this one's for you.

Each week, I'll be recapping the latest races with a big focus on vibe, the moments, and the people. No need to be a strategist or a diehard fan from the nineties to hang out here. Now I say the nineties because that's when I used to watch it, but clearly, whatever decade. Whatever decade. We'll talk about what happened, who made a bold move, who got totally stitched up, and what made us laugh, scream, or want to flip a table.

I'll also cover those little off track gems that I see along the way, funny moments, iconic outfits, basically the stuff that makes F1 more than just racing. Segments you can expect include things like Race Recaps minus the jargon, Sector Three Showdown where we're breaking down the most chaotic of game changing moments, Fan Flags where we shout out underrated drives, drivers, best crowd signs, or even just a meme that deserves a trophy. Now when it comes to memes, I'm not very up on memes, so I'm afraid that will be something that I would be having to ask my kids to help me out with. Virtual Safety Tea, a more relaxed wrap up where I share what I've loved that weekend on or off the track. And, of course, we'll be making some totally unscientific, possibly cursed predictions for the next race.

Sometimes it'll just be me. Sometimes I might have a guest and sometimes it'll be me screaming into the void after a race that's broke my heart or wound me up.

I created the show because I believe F1 should feel accessible. Whether you're a new fan, a casual viewer, or someone who only knows, "oh, that team with the red car, you know the ones." You can support more than one driver. You can learn as you go. You can just show up and enjoy it. That's what this podcast is here for. So if that sounds like your kind of pit stop, I'd love for you to hit subscribe, leave a rating if you're feeling generous, and join me for the season ahead. The next full episode will be a recap of the Spanish Grand Prix.

And if you watch that race, you'll know there's plenty to talk about. Oh, and don't think because I've started halfway through the season, I won't be going back to chat about the past races because I'll be catching up on myself as the weeks go by, particularly when we have some race free weeks.

So I'd love to hear from you guys. questions.

One, who is your favourite driver?

And two, what moment made you fall in love with f1?

Thanks for being here at Lights Out. This is Trackside Tea. Less telemetry, more tea. See you in the next episode.

Until then, keep it sassy and speedy.

Rebecca Whitewick

I'm Rebecca — long-time F1 fangirl, first-time podcaster, and proud member of the “I love this sport but have no idea what a diff is” club. I don’t speak telemetry, but I do speak team radio drama, bold predictions, and post-race chaos. Trackside Tea is my excuse to talk F1 the way most of us enjoy it: with passion, laughter, and a slightly chaotic group chat energy.

Are you here for the overtakes, the outfits, and the occasional meltdown in the paddock? Same. :-)
